CONGRESSIONAL HEARING DISPELS INTERNET POKER MYTHS

Duke delivers impassioned testimony to Judiciary Committee

Washington, D.C. (November 14, 2007) — Yesterday the House Judiciary Committee, which has key jurisdiction over Internet gaming matters, held a hearing to discuss the inconsistencies with U.S. policy.

On behalf of the Poker Players Alliance (PPA), pro player Annie Duke testified along with experts on international trade, age-verification technology, and representatives from the Departments of Justice (DOJ) and Treasury.

“At its most basic level, the issue before this committee is personal freedom,” Ms. Duke stated.

SEASON FINALE AIRS STARTING NOV. 12

Many have probably wondered how the six players seen over the course of the past year on Poker After Dark’s opening promo scenes would fare against one another in a match.

Well, it’s time to find out, as Chris Ferguson, Phil Hellmuth, Jennifer Harman, Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, and Howard Lederer each put up $20,000 and will battle for next week’s $120,000 winner-take-all prize on NBC and the coveted PAD title that accompanies it.
